May 3, 2015. May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii. It's that time of year again - Hula time! Largely the same production, but each year my kids have played a different part. This year, most of the hula was done by the 4th grade - hula dancers or not. Don't tell them but I kinda love these boys! I have no idea what I did here. I was trying to find a better/faster way to upload some video and this crazy wiggle shot is what I got. I gave up, come visit me if you want to see some cute video ;). If you can't beat em.

April 5, 2015. Busy Times, Happy Times! We had a great visit with my Dad for Spring Break! Lots and Lots of together time ;). Olivia's school holds an annual carnival/fundraiser each year. This year, Olivia organized her art club to do a live painting mural at the carnival. How cool for her that her grandpa was there to join in the fun! Then there were some driving tours. February 20, 2014. Valentines Day Celebration - finally! Since Olivia started high school, family dinners are not a given. Valentines day was in the "no" column - but we sync'd our calendars and discovered Sunday night was good! By then, all those ridiculously overpriced roses are nearly free. Nearly dead too, (but I suspect they were this way on Valentines Day also.). Our tradition is to make cards for each other. I must say over the years we have gotten pretty good and very creative. May 10, 2014. I'm happy to report that my lack of posting this time around has not been due to illness! Just regular old "busy". April showers bring May flowers, but in Hawaii, May brings HULA! Lots and lots of hula! Emily again took part in the Lei day celebration at school. I had to substitute teach that day so I didn't get any good photos of her fully dressed with her lei, but as you can see she was pretty excited. This was my 7th grade band of hooligans I was babysitting (ahem, substituting) that day.

April 20, 2014. The older I get, the more I love Easter! I love the story, the message, the happiness it makes me feel. ANDit doesn't take near the decoration, preparation and cooking that Christmas does ;). Emily is pretty happy about it all too! Lots of pink, sparkly, candy. May 16, 2015. First off, I promised you some hula photos from Olivia's show. As predicted, I didn't really have an opportunity to get any from my nosebleed section of the theater. They allowed photos for this one group shot, but it's underwhelming! After the show, we had a quick chance to give her a lei and a hug before they had to go back in and clean up.
